A blank canvas quickly developed into an inspiring and bright work environment for the Midwest Eyebank of Ann Arbor’s new location. The organization started from scratch, moving into an old chemistry lab, and hired O|X Studio to get the major renovation job done.
Sustainable materials, energy efficient lighting, and recycling parts of the demolition process helped the company advertise their green side while creating a corporate image for their other locations across the country. Custom bamboo plywood furniture, doors, and cupboards plus off the shelf pieces helped create a unique, inspiring environment.
“As a country-wide eye donation center, we are striving to set standards for both our laboratories and our offices. Could not have asked for a better result.”
– Kevin Ross, President
Close attention to detail and fearless exploration with finishes brought a drab space into the new decade. Stained epoxy floors, linear stainless steel cabinet pulls and sliding door hardware introduced the right amount of sophistication to the office without too high of a price tag. Reusing cabinet carcasses, installing LED light fixtures, and transforming old birch doors into a conference room table further embraced coveted LEED points.
“The space is great. We wanted something more upbeat and colorful, but still professional – I think we got exactly what we wanted and more.”
– Collin Ross, Vice President
